This new house is located on a site adjacent to a mainline railway. The Client bought
the site with planning consent for an ordinary house and then commissioned MTA Architects
to design a much more exciting building, in harmony with its environment. A main
feature of the house is a granite stone wall which runs parallel to the railway,
providing an impregnable barrier against noise from the trains and the outside world.
A neatly crafted timber and glass box containing a snug / TV room projects through
the granite wall and is suspended high above the driveway and offers an enticing
glimpse of the house behind the wall.
